About Howter Automation Limited
Howter Automation Ltd was founded by Alex Carter and Tom Howard, combining years of hands-on experience across gate automation, access control, electrical systems and security installations. We work with homeowners, schools, commercial premises, industrial sites and property management companies, offering honest advice and high-quality workmanship from start to finish.
Alex began his career in the gate automation industry in 2014, joining CAME in a technical support role. Through dedication and expertise, he progressed to leading the technical team, becoming a key point of contact and working closely with manufacturers in Italy. This experience gave him a deep understanding of system operation, fault diagnosis and what sets a high-quality installation apart. In 2020, Alex moved into installation work with a leading Midlands-based gate automation company.
Tom comes from a strong electrical background. After qualifying as an electrician, he worked with several large installation companies, including spending a significant part of his career at Stanguard. During this time, he gained extensive experience across domestic, commercial and industrial installations, as well as alarms, fire systems, access control and gate automation. He later joined the same Midlands-based company as Alex, where the two first met.
After working closely together and consistently receiving excellent feedback, it became clear they shared the same standards, work ethic and approach. This partnership naturally led to the creation of Howter Automation Ltd.
